It is not always easy to find a water leak, especially when this occurs under the floor, behind tiles of in walls. Leak detection allows for locating of leaks which cannot be found with the naked eye.
South Africa is a water poor country, and in the Western Cape leaking pipes and water wastage are issues which cannot be left unattended because leaking pipes can lead to hefty water bills and associated fines.
We have three ways in which we locate a leak using our leak detection equipment:
1. Stethophone – Acoustic sound equipment is used for listening for water movement used for ground and walls. This method is first choice in locating a leak which is not visible.
2. Gas – A low density gas is injected into the pipe, it then escapes through the easiest outlet and we use a highly sensitive gas detector unit to find gas readings to locate and pin point your leak.
3. Thermal Imaging – Thermal imaging allows for a heat radiated image to be broadcast to a hand held camera. This allows us to see any hot water leakage, and heat differentials in walls and floors. This will also form part of the post leak detection report.
4. Moisture Meters –
5. Special Dyes –
